The film covers the time before, during and after the founding of the club BVB Borussia Dortmund. In addition, it provides insights into the development of Dortmund's urban history. The focus is on Franz Jacobi, the most important man in the early history of BVB, but his comrades-in-arms are also honored. Over 90 minutes, the viewer is immersed in the dramatic first moments of the BVB, with the escalating conflict with Chaplain Dewald, the naming, the first sports field, the admission to the association, the creation of the first logo and much more. The events are conveyed with numerous new photos, with computer animations, with some historically-authentic re-enacted scenes and the artifice of sand painting. The actual founding situation was reenacted at a historical location: In the "Hall of Mirrors" above the former restaurant "Zum Wildschütz" in Oesterholzstraße 60. The narrative is rounded off by the assessments of experts and relatives of the founders. At the same time, no one should be too hasty in considering the film to be over. The end credits are a spectacle in themselves.
