Fishmonger Teddy (Helge Schneider) is a jazz musician with heart and soul, but because of his annoying wife (Susanne Bredehöft) he also has to work as a newspaper delivery boy and man for certain hours. Unfortunately, the jazz club where Teddy and his buddies (Jimmy Woode and Pete York) perform is also threatened with closure. When the jazz club owner Willi (Horst Mendroch) also dies from excessive alcohol consumption, events come to a head.
Helge Schneider's simultaneously whimsical and serious homage to his hometown of Mülheim an der Ruhr with autobiographical echoes.
